class feedback

okayy so i got a few things from this class discussion that are useful:

1. could possibly film in hannah's parents office

2. might change the ending so its not cliche

3. need to figure out the editing so its not that crazy

all of these things are very basic and things that i kind of knew (except for the location)

also i found out that this is week 4 of the project which is INSANE because i thought i had way moe time to work but i really don't want to stress. i have spring break coming up and i'm gonna see how i can film with martina during those days. she said she might go to gainseville and lowkey i might too soooooo i need to figure it out. spring break is a huge opportunity to film with no distractions and i really need that time. i'm gonna pull out my big monthly calendar when i get home so i can plan.

ok i just got told this whole thing got introduced feb 1 LMAO what. its been 28 days. so in february terms its been a month. so counting from tomorrow i have a month and like a week. which honestly isnt a lot when i really think of it.

lockdown madness... more inspo

hi blog, we're currently  in a lockdown in school and all i can think about is just focusing my energies to something productive, so here is me blogging for you guys.

today i wanted to kind of jot down and brainstorm the shot ideas that have come to me the past few days and some inspiration for my script:

- ariana grande positions transition

- severance helly break room shot

- euphoria tilt shot

-inception tilt shot

- alice in wonderland going through mirror

- tris divergent breaking glass

honestly i heavily rely on inspiration. i've always been impacted and inspired by past things that i've viewed and i think that's where this all comes into play. i want my piece to be my brain but also draw inspiration as a tribute to things that i've found beautiful in film over the years. now that i have shot inspo here's what coming up next!!

- finding fonts on illustrator
- finding an actress
- finding where to film ( i talked to my parents and they said i can totally rent out an office for my psychologist scene )
- finding music to edit to

system configuration reboot? science? stem? comp sci?

hello blog.

it is currently 8:42 and i have been fighting with my computer for (officially) two hours. i've had some problems with my adobe premiere on my computer and i just haven't fixed them because honestly i edit a lot on my phone. but i really wanted to edit on my computer because some of the ideas i have can't be done on the mobile app. also i didn't want these issues to bite me in the ass later. basically, adobe premiere sucks and gave me a vague message that my "intel driver" and "graphics driver" were not compatible with their system and needed to be updated.

when i tell you i went through every website and watched so many youtube videos to get this to work. i'm adding some screenshots of the issues i had to deal with. honestly, my brain had no idea what it was looking at. coders are so brave. i am scared of code.

basically i had to update my NVIDIA graphics driver (which i didn't even know existed or was downloaded) so it could be compatible with adobe premiere. i had to download the files and do a whole bunch of things that my brain already blocked out because it was so traumatic. finally i did that and i was like yes! vane you're done! NO
i had to go back and do the intel driver. i don't know what intel or driver is but i knew i had to update it and figure it out. after visiting many websites (including one named howtogeek.com, so embarrassing), i figured it out.

I AM SO PROUD. BE PROUD.
i actually learned so many things about my computer and i probably only scraped .5 percent of the software and all the weird stuff that computers have.

now i can officially say..... MY ADOBE PREMIERE PRO WORKS!
i'm so excited because i spent part of today watching tutorials on effects that i want to play around with and learn about. i have never edited on my computer so i's definitely gonna be an adjustement... we shall see friends.

stay tuned...

plot ideas number 2 sponsored by sleep deprivation and insomnia

so i've always been interested in the idea of divine karma

this idea fully came up around 4am last night and so it is VERY roughly developed

plot idea #2 inspo:

film name: death wish? i wish? i feel like death wish ties into the horror thriller genre and gives that away more so i really like that.
trope: scary killer stalker (pretty typical and basic)
tagline idea: be careful what you wish for
plot: a recently orphaned girl sufers from extreme loneliness and coping with grief. while talking to her therapist she says "i wish i had someone to watch over me". without realizing she unleashed a divine karma and quickly began to realize that she was being stalked and those around her were being hurt.

my issues with this film idea is that i don't feel as passionate as the other and i think that showing these people getting physically hurt in clips or trying to at least model that isn't something i want to do. i love this idea of karma and being careful about what you wish into the universe but for now it is a very raw and baby idea that can possibly develop into something later on. i want to see if my creative fluids give me something cool to work with but it isn't as developed as the other one which is why i'm not leaning towards this yet.

potential plot ideas!! motivation is back !!

this long weekend with beautiful time to think has given me SO much more motivation. the randomest moments of the day give me inspiration and i think i've come up with two solid ideas.

so my number ones right now here is the inspo for it:

potential name: uhhhh not sure yet but still figuring it all out
i wanted something that mentioned the hypnosis but there is a film called hypnosis so i want tos tray away from the basic name and want to make it much more intriguing, we'll see how this works out

plot:
a teenage girl has some sort of incentive, i was thinking maybe money or a scholarship of some kind, to enter a trial for hypnotherapy. she quickly realizes that the line between her fantasies in the sleep realm and in reality is blurring and impairing her daily life. she starts to experience supernatural things, i wanted to kind of play around with that alice in wonderland shot where her hand goes through thte mirror. of course i am no professional to edit that but i wanted to figure out a way to do that. also in black mirror bander snatch when the main character takes lsd and things begin to distort. i absolutely love that vibe and want to figure out a way to recreate it with the skills and time that i have. back to plot. we see in the trailers that her reality and fantasy begin to merge driving her mad. at the end of the movie, it is revealed that the main character had died of a seizure during her first session. and the doctors take her away saying "we didn't know she had epilepsy", "i guess we didn't check her files right", i want this idea of critiquing the medicine field a bit for treating patients like disposable items.

i absolutely love this plot and feel like i can do so much with it... my next blog post will be my second idea. yayyyyy

goodbye motivation, hello frustration!

so... okay the title is kinda dramatic i'm not entirely unmotivated (demotivated???????????)

i just feel really frustrated right now because they're so elements to think about when doing a trailer. a trailer has chunks of the entire movie, it isn't like a short film that can be linear or just a 5 minute sequential story.

here's things i need to figure out because i think writing it as a to-do list will help:

- find plot, duh

-mood boards and inspiration

-create in depth characters

- music

- scout actresses

- fix the premiere problems on my computer (we can talk about this later)

-stick to the fkin schedule!

inspiration? ideas? help...????!!!

okay so maybe you can decipher this and my ideas:
this is exactly what my notes app says

-truman show vibe?

-black mirror: doing immoral things - "how far are you willing to go"

-tchaikovsky or classical music in it

- perfectionist trope- black swan/whiplash

-nerve? divergent type dystopia?

rooting for the hero?? or hero is the villain?

ok lol what.

i know it's a huge mess of ideas but i kind of have some idea of the direction i want to go towards. maybe hte audience will doubt the integrity of the main character because of things they're forced to do,

so far: the movie inspo

  1. There are two types of people, the rich and the poor. The rich have an extreme amount of money and power. And the poor are living on the streets and undergrounds, struggling to get by. A poor orphan girl is adopted by a rich family and discovers a deadly secret about how the rich become rich.
  2. A new mobile app in the future tells people when to eat, sleep, drink and essentially live. Without the app, humans would be lost, confused and clueless. A group of cyber hackers, hack this app to gain control of all humans.
  3. With surveillance cameras watching everyone. A new TV show called, ‘Did They Really Do That’ airs across the nation showing the most embarrassing moments of civilians living in your area. You then go on a mission to destroy all surveillance and destroy the TV show.
  4. Describe a future where all humans are either deaf or blind.
these are some cool prompts i found and i like. you have no idea how many websites i'e been on for inspo. i'e read every dystopian adn thriller plot idea but the issue is that most of them i just can't produce because they're too realistic so let's see

okay! this is mine

so i did make a lot of changes. the other sample is obviously not doing the trailer so is witched around a couple of things. i also took some time to really plan the feed for the social media aspect where i'll be taking shots from my production for my actual posters and social media promo.

i also added something very important.... PHOTO SHOOT. for the movie trailer project we took like 10 minutes to shoot really quick and we got some incredible posters. since this project is so much more important, i think really taking one day to do a whole thought out shoot would benefit me.

i also added a MOOD BOARD aspect because i am very very visual

i also switched the production to earlier on because i think editing is reallllyyyyy significant especially because i'm going to be making TWO trailers.. not one. very cool very fun very exciting very a lot f things.

another thing ( yes girl i know its a lot of changes ) i want to do a teasr. i know it'll take longer but i know it'll make my social media legittttttt. so that's a lot more work, that's 3 videos to create, but we'll see.

hopefully i stick by this. future vane.. girl. stick by it.

I"M BACK! YEAR TWO! back and better than ever.....

 ok so

let's debrief a little. let's talk about what happened last year, what happened this year, and all the exciting things to come. (insert your cheer)

last year was rough and there was a lot of things that went wrong. i wish that i would've shown part of my potential, ATLEAST an 80% but i was so burnt out i prioritized everything but this project. my project delphi last year had a good idea but girl was that execution mediocre. i think i can confidently say that i know my classmates, mrs. stoklosa and basically everyone around me expected so much more. it sucked to disappoint and to feel like i didn't reach my potential at all, it was pretty much the worst feeling.

(insert boooooo)t

this year has been pretty different overall. i started off pretty strong with my identity project, which i look back at now and can tweak because i have definitely changed a lot since. i had my documentary process with hannah which was such a beautiful process but not the best outcome. we did work really hard and we had to adjust to the location which was in aventura (my first time on the highway!). i think what i learned the most is that people will always base you on your final project and they never see what it took to get there, so it was a good lesson to keep in mind throughout the year. we just finished our trailer project and YAY. i haven't been so motivated in a long time honestly. i'm constantly stuck in an artistic rut because when i take pictures lately it's been for a job or commission and never for pleasure anymore. doing this project with martina and jack was a bigger revelation to me than i ever would've thought. i learned so much about my own personal style since i filmed it and i was able to connect a lot with martina. i think you realize that sometimes the people you expect the least are those that mesh and complement your style. we saw eye to eye on mostly all the creative direction and whenever there was any kind of hesitance between two ideas, we would just find a way to blend them. i really loved this project and i can say i was proud of it. i was excited for people to critique and see the movie posters i made. it was the most excited i had been in my time in this class.

ugh yay. i look at them and i'm so proud. i feel like its not often that i can showcase photography in this class or my love for designing but this trailer project brought out the best in me for sure. there's always room for improvement but this was a good step towards my portfolio.

let's talk about the future:
ok so.

based on what i've been saying about this year i think you can guess that i'm doing the trailer project. i was so sad that the music video had to be a local band or original song because i know if i could just adapt a song i liked into a video it would be incredible. anyways, i do think the trailer is a big challenger for me. making two different trailers out of one movie is tough and trying to make them very different is gonna be the hardest part for me.

lets talk about ideas lol.

????????????????????????

okay i can't expect to have it figured out, yesterday was day 1 so i won't kill myself over not having an idea right away. i know that i like dystopian, thriller, suspense films but how do i do that? i wanted kind of a black mirror episode type of vibe. thats how my brain works and it would be my best production. i'm so excited at the thought of my OWN work. my own brain. my own creation. my own shots and my own ideas.
